The Mount Everest Foundation (MEF) has issued a press release inviting members of the Nepalese community in London to a special event titled “Summit, Science, and Survival”.
The event is scheduled to take place on Thursday, 26 March 2026 at the Royal Geographical Society, located at 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR.
The MEF operates as a charity that originated from the historic first ascent of Mount Everest on 29 May 1953, and maintains deep ties to the high mountains of Nepal and the people who assisted Sherpa Tenzing Norgay and Edmund Hillary.
The foundation actively awards grants to citizens of Nepal, Britain, and New Zealand to fund mountain exploration and innovative scientific research, looking favorably upon early-career scientists.
Addressing the impacts of extreme climate change such as accelerated glacier retreat, torrential rainfall, and thawing subsoils the MEF aims to support frontline mountain communities.
At the upcoming event, the organization will officially announce the allocation of funds to research Glacial Lake Outburst Floods in the Kanchenjunga region.
Tickets are available online via the Royal Geographical Society website, and attendees can access a discounted price of £10 by using the checkout code MEFNepal50.
