A Magar language script training program was completed on 21, 22 and 23 in Tahu, Rambha Rural Municipality-5, Palpa district. The training program, organized by the Magarat Jong Organization with the financial support of Rambha Rural Municipality, provided training on the use and preservation of the Magar language and script.
After the program, an interaction on learning the Magar Dhut language was also organized. During the interaction, the speakers highlighted the need to preserve the customs, culture, and traditions of the Magar community. They noted that despite the significant Magar population, community awareness is weak.
Rural Municipality Vice-Chairperson Radha Kumari Shrestha stated that the preservation of the Magar language is necessary and expressed her commitment to provide Magar language curriculum in schools and create an environment for teaching the language.
Similarly, the chairman of the Magarat Jong organization accused the Magar community of being focused on personal interests and ignoring the collective interest, and suggested that they should now work together to preserve their language, customs and culture without following the political parties. He stressed the need to “put aside the party bag and contribute to their own race” and hand over Magar history to the new generation.
The program was attended by the chief guest, Rural Municipality Vice-Chairman Radha Kumari Shrestha, special guest and central advisor Padam Lamichhane Magar, and guests Kya. Bishnu Bahadur Kammu, Khem Bahadur Sinjali Magar, Top Zargha Magar, and Mr. Masrangi Magar.
